Eligibility
- The Media Sales Cup is open to UK media owners in all sectors of the industry – from publishing to events, online to outdoor
- Each team must include a minimum of 3 salespeople
- Ringers from other departments (including but not limited to editorial, production/operations, finance etc. are allowed
- Players from client companies (advertisers, exhibitors etc) are also permitted
General Rules
- All matches shall be played according to the laws of the game as settled by the tournament organisers
- All teams are responsible for their players & spectators conduct both on and off the pitch
- Abusive language & threatening behaviour towards any officials or other players will not be tolerated – keep it clean people
- Any players found making any discriminatory remarks or comments (including but not limited to race, religion, gender) towards their opposing players or officials will be expelled from the tournament immediately
- Any player deemed guilty of violent conduct will be immediately expelled from the tournament
- Any team playing with unregistered players shall be expelled from the tournament
Game Rules
- The competition will consist of a group stage and a knockout stage
- Teams will be selected on a first come first serve basis
- A maximum of 7 players can be registered
- A minimum of 6 players must be registered
- Standard rules of the FA shall apply to tournament play as described by the referee on the day
- The offside rule does not apply
- All decisions made by the referees are final
- Any team not appearing at the appointed time and place for a match will automatically be declared the loser by 3-0
Group Stage
The teams are divided into groups of four where all the teams will meet in a round robin series. Three points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. If two or more teams have the same number of points, the order will be decided as follows:
1. Goal difference
2. Highest number of goals scored
3. Results of match between teams with equal points
4. Penalty kick contest according to FIFA rules
Knockout Stage
The top two from each league will go through to the knockout stages for the Cup, the other teams playing for the Plate. In the event of a draw no extra time shall be played (apart from the Cup Final). Standard rules of the FA shall apply in the event of a penalty shootout.
