Scout Report 2010 – Haymarket

Another new team for 2010 with their eyes on the Cup, enter the Hammersmith Wanderers…
I say football, you say…
“футбол or possibly calcio”
Apart from having a football team, what’s the best thing about working for your company?
“Our former chairman is known as Tarzan. We now have the son of Tarzan as chairman which is why we get free fruit.”
Which World Cup team are you most like, and why?
“Cameroon in 1990. An unknown, aging and almost certainly underpaid quantity who ultimately won’t win anything.”
Player to watch? (and reason for watching him..)
“Blaco Jnr Goes. Because he has a better name than Prince Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and dances like Roger Milla”
Do you have a mascot?
“Tarzan”
Where’s your regular home ground (meaning pub, obviously…)
“Think of us as the great Wanderers FC, the first FA Cup winners. Like the Littlest Hobo we have no fixed abode, but we’re going to have a lot of fun and make some good friends along the way*
*possibly go in late with a few challenges due to lack of fitness/excess lethargy and be sent home early”
What’s your team’s favourite tipple?
“Bacardi and cherryade”
In York, excluding Sundays, it is legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow. Tell us a little-known fact about your team or one of your players:
“I can tell you that the York fact is, in fact, a myth, it was superseded long ago by various British and European laws. It has not been repealed, but you couldn’t actually do it. The oldest UK law is The Distress Act of 1267, under the reign of Henry III (it’s to do with damages). Michael Heseltine was born around this time.”
